Suggested day in Glendalough
Check in at 3.00pm in the hotel lobby, drop your bags to your room and then head out across the Glendasan River and turn left after the bridge and head to the Visitors centre. In spring and summer the grass is green, beautiful yellow flowers are on the gorse bushes and there is lots of wildlife around for you to spot.
Meet local guides, choose the Glendalough Musical Tour or enjoy exploring your own way. The walking routes are marked really clearly so you can easily choose a route and follow it around the valley. The wooded walk down to the lakes is an easy start to your stay you can visit the Monastic city on your return journey and enjoy dusk settling in the valley with St Kevin’s Round Tower rising up from this ancient site. There is something magical about the hush of the evening there, as a hotel guest you can enjoy that and not have to go far to warm up if it’s a chilly evening.
Return to the hotel in the evening for dinner in Casey’s Bar and Bistro.
In the morning enjoy our Glendalough Hotel full Irish breakfast and then head out on one of the more ambitious walks, if you like walking we recommend the Spinc walk, it requires good walking shoes, raingear, (it’s Ireland so we can seldom guarantee a fully dry day) and a certain level of fitness.
Don’t forget to bring some water and perhaps a packaged lunch so that you can take your time and really enjoy the spectacular views.
Guests can order a packed lunch from reception the night before you plan to head out.
We can also arrange with our adventure partner for your gear to be moved to your next location if you want to walk from Glendalough to another part of Wicklow.
What are you waiting for? Book into the Glendalough hotel and enjoy nature this easter in the valley.
